Base: A 100% vegetable-origin emulsion with liquid crystal structure. Provides immediate moisture to the skin and shows superior moisturising properties since the water molecules are entrapped within the layers of the liquid crystal structure.

Green tea: Green tea leaf is rich in polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Shows strong antioxidant, photoprotective, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Green tea inhibits the breakdown of collagen and induces significant DNA repair. It also has anti-ageing properties as it inhibits the breakdown of collagen.

Matcha green tea: A fine powder of specially grown and processed high-quality green tea leaves (Tencha). Rich in polyphenols, theanine and caffeine, matcha tea shows excellent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Helps protect the skin from oxidative stress and premature skin ageing caused by free radicals. Matcha is what gives Tea Shot Urban Defence Serum its beautiful green colour.

White tea: Also known as Yinzhen, white tea is made from the buds and youngest, immature leaves of Camellia sinensis, picked in spring shortly before the buds have fully opened. The leaves are naturally dried immediately after harvest to stop them oxidising, which makes white tea rich in polyphenols, flavonoids and caffeine. White tea demonstrates excellent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, astringent and skin-soothing properties. It also has an energising and stimulating effect.

Black tea: Produced from the leaves of green tea, which are first dried, then rolled, ground and finally fermented. Rich in polyphenols and tannins, black tea shows antioxidant, soothing, conditioning, tonic and firming properties.

Kombucha: A fermented black tea produced using a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast. Rich in probiotics, flavonoids and other polyphenols. Inhibits glycation, helps restore volume through lipofilling activity, decreases skin roughness and improves overall skin quality by enhancing smoothness and radiance.

Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG): The main polyphenol of green tea. Demonstrates powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. As a potent free radical scavenger, EGCG combats the effects of environmental aggressors and helps combat signs of premature skin ageing. There is a large amount of clinical evidence showing the efficacy of topical use of EGCG. Clinical studies showed that EGCG has strong photoprotective role since it downregulates UV-induced oxidative stress and UVB-induced inflammatory responses. Several studies have found that EGCG induces significant DNA repair through stimulation of a cytokine (IL-12).

Green Tea Seed Oil: A highly restorative cold-pressed oil obtained from the seeds of green tea. Used as an emollient to replenish moisture and soften dry skin. Containing phenols, tocopherol and tocotrienols, green tea seed oil acts as a potent antioxidant that helps to protect skin from the harmful effects of free radicals and promote natural skin regeneration.

Hyaluronic Acid: A full spectrum of different molecular weights (very low, low and medium) of pure hyaluronic acid working in synergy. Shows multiple activities: improves skin moisture, strengthens barrier function, helps to retain and maintain skin elasticity, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and restores skin suppleness.

Squalane: Derived from Mediterranean olive oil, this botanical ingredient mimics natural skin lipids. Replenishes moisture, prevents moisture loss and restores skin's suppleness. Squalane also acts as an antioxidant to help protect the skin from damaging free radicals.

Red tea (Aspalathus linearis): A leaf extract of rooibos plant known in South Africa as the ‘long-life tea’. Rich in the flavonoid aspalathin, red tea shows excellent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and soothing properties. Clinical studies have demonstrated that red tea is beneficial for irritated and blemished skin.

Candida Bombicola/Glucose/Methyl Rapeseedate Ferment: An advanced antimicrobial and skin-protecting active ingredient obtained by the fermentation of glucose and methyl rapeseedate by the microorganism Candida bombicola. Used to improve the texture, absorption and moisturising capacity of green tea oil.

Yeast: A filtrate of the lysate (the solution consisting of the material released from cell lysis; cellular disruption) obtained by the fermentation of yeast (Saccharomyces). Rich in amino acids, essential minerals, beta-glucan and vitamins. Possesses anti-inflammatory, revitalising and protective properties. Increases cell respiration and metabolism, stimulates oxygen consumption and enhances skin repair.

Olive oil: The oil extracted from the olive fruit is rich in omega-9 (oleic acid). Shows moisturising, nourishing, softening and healing properties. Due to a high amount of natural phenols, it also acts as a good antioxidant.

Glycerin: A vegetable-derived molecule naturally present in the skin. Acts an excellent humectant, a substance that attracts moisture from the environment and increases the amount of water in the surface layers of the skin.

Coco-Caprylate/Caprate: Completely natural vegetable-derived esters. Acts as a fast-spreading emollient with excellent moisturising, skin-conditioning and refatting properties.
